Care of wood floors
Proper use of vacuuming, sweeping, and damp mopping is usually all that is required to maintain the cleanliness and appearance of a wood floor.
Detergent soaps should not be used to clean the floors. The best suggestion is to use the manufacturers recommended cleaning products.
Like tile floors, excessive grit and foot traffic will affect appearance. It is important to keep the wooden floor clean, as dust, dirt and sand particles may scratch the surface over time in high-traffic areas.
Unlike carpet or rugs, a properly finished wood floor, like any tile, does not accumulate hidden soil or odorous compounds.
Water spills aren’t a problem if they’re wiped up quickly, and not allowed to sit for a prolonged period of time.
Adhesive felt pads are often placed on the feet of furniture on wooden floors to prevent scratching.
